I’m often asked why I decided to work with people experiencing pregnancy, birth, new family growth. It’s not a short answer! Here are a few of the reasons why I started Fulheart Family Support, and why I absolutely love what I do.
…because sometimes getting (and staying) pregnant isn’t easy
Did you know that 12% of all families experience fertility issues? And 1 out of every 3 pregnancies ends in loss? When a couple has trouble conceiving or sustaining a pregnancy, the emotional and physical impact can take its toll on everyone involved. Finding resources to create the family you desire can be daunting. At a time in life when so many other people are growing their families, many women feel very alone in their struggle. We find great joy in offering fertility support groups and individual procedural support to women undergoing fertility treatments. We also assist families experiencing pregnancy loss in any trimester or at birth.
…because sometimes pregnancy is harder than you thought it would be
How many times have you heard someone talk about unexpected pregnancy challenges? Morning sickness, physical adjustments that come along with pregnancy, making changes in your professional and personal life, learning about childbirth, and working with your partner (or doing it alone!) to get ready for a new baby can make anyone’s head spin! We provide in-home or online music-based self care and childbirth education services to families throughout pregnancy.
…because sometimes birth doesn’t go the way you planned
Birth is a mysterious, complicated, and wonderful thing. We’ve all heard about 1,000 birth stories at this point, right? Sometimes women experience “uncomplicated” labors and births, and sometimes, well, things happen. Being present throughout childbirth allows us to help families make sense of their experiences, empower healthy choices, and foster meaningful internal experiences through the birth process. Our pregnancy and childbirth support packages include a number of prenatal care visits, in person support throughout your birth, and periodic checkups during the first year of your baby’s life.
…because sometimes life with baby is tough
No amount of reading or preparing the perfect nursery or watching your friends raise their kids can prepare you for your own parenting journey. These little babies keep us guessing, keep us on our feet, and keep us always wanting a few more minutes of sleep. While some people have “easy babies” with few challenges, many Moms experience frustration, anxiety, and even depression in the months and years following their child’s birth. Even in this, women are not alone. We offer in-home counseling and support services to help you transition through this time in healthy ways.
…because sometimes, despite all the challenges, your family comes together in beautiful and wonderful ways.
Lest you think we’re suggesting parenthood is all a struggle, we LOVE celebrating moments of joy- whether it’s finding out you’re pregnant, hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time, welcoming your baby into the world, or bonding with your newborn, we’re here for all of it.
