Multilingual Child

  • Momo's Tree House 205 Arch Street Philadelphia, PA, 19106 United States (map)

We live in a multilingual country where the number of U.S. residents age 5 and older who speak a language other than English at home has more than doubled in the past three decades. Whether you already speak more than one language in your home or you want your baby to have some exposure to a second language, but you don't know how to navigate the uncharted waters, here's a class that will help you to cultivate a multilingual environment.

About the Speaker: Born and raised in Italy, Valentina Nardo grew up monolingual and became bilingual at the age of 13. She learned to speak English, her fourth language, at age 33 when she moved to the United States, proof that it is never too late to learn a new language! She has a background in Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition, and holds a master in TESOL (M.S.Ed.) from Temple University. She has successfully raised her two children, ages 15 and 9, as speakers of both Italian and English, and through a language immersion bilingual school they are now trilingual, adding Spanish to their repertoire.
